The Bespoke Biosphere
We are working to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and the events we help create.
Our approach focuses on decisions where we can make the greatest difference: scenic design, materials, energy, transport, logistics, suppliers and waste.
Working with independent sustainability consultancy ZeroBees, we are strengthening our greenhouse-gas accounting, developing our carbon reduction roadmap and improving the evidence behind our communications.
CARBON FOOTRPINT
We measure our organisational greenhouse-gas footprint across Scopes 1 and 2 and all relevant material Scope 3 categories. Our FY25/26 footprint was 368.2 tCO2e, of which 93.1% was Scope 3. As our business has grown since our baseline in FY23/24, we have seen absolute emissions increase 73.6% as our operational footprint has grown - reflected as a revenue intensity improvement of 2.2% since baseline. We are improving activity and supplier data for energy, scenic materials, purchased goods and hire, logistics, travel and waste.
WHAT WE ARE CHANGING
Design and materials – to increase reuse, design for disassembly and improve material records.
Energy and fuel – we are reviewing office and warehouse use and will reduce fossil fuel over time.
Suppliers and logistics – we are requesting better data from suppliers and consolidating deliveries.
Waste and surplus – we aim to prevent waste first, then increase reuse and recycling.
EVENT REPORTING
For selected events, we use activity-based data to identify environmental hotspots and reduction opportunities across production, materials, transport, energy, catering and waste. Reporting separates the estimated whole-event footprint from emissions BESPOKE can directly control or influence, and explains boundaries, assumptions and data limitations. We can provide event-level carbon assessments to help clients make informed choices, particularly during design and planning.
CARBON REDUCTION ROADMAP
Our roadmap uses FY23/24 as the baseline and prioritises absolute operational reductions alongside value-chain action. Immediate priorities are energy and fuel, scenic design and materials, logistics, waste, supplier engagement and data quality. We will publish quantified targets and progress once they are approved, resourced and supported by a delivery plan. BESPOKE is a proud signatory to Net Zero Carbon Events.
CARBON LITERACY
We believe that education is key to fostering a sustainability-first mindset throughout the business, so we have undergone Carbon Literacy training as a team to help colleagues understand the impacts associated with their work and make better decisions across design, production, operations, logistics and procurement.
